Peter Akwaboah is a seasoned Investment Banker with extensive industry experience internationally. He joined Morgan Stanley, a top tier investment banking firm in 2015 as a Managing Director, Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Operations. In 2017 he was given the global responsibility to lead the Firm’s Shared Services Operations across Investment Banking, Wealth and Asset management.
He is also the chair of the Morgan Stanley’s payment risk steering committee as well as leading the firms Black Employee Network group (BENG).
He is member of Federal Reserve bank’s (FRB) Payment Risk Committee with primary goal of fostering enhancements to the safety and efficiency of financial market infrastructure, which includes identifying opportunities to strengthen the clearing and settlement of financial transactions, and to inform the Federal Reserve about developments, conditions and practices in payments, clearing and settlement activities.
Prior to joining the Firm, he worked at Royal Bank of Scotland for 10 years with his most recent role in Asia Pacific as Chief Operating Officer responsible for Operations, Technology and Corporate Services across 12 countries in the region. Prior to RBS, Peter has held a number of senior roles in both Operations and Technology at Deutsche Bank, KPMG and IBM.
Peter attended The University of Birmingham, U.K. where he majored in Civil Engineering with 1st class (Hons). He specialized in the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions in the construction industry.
He has been instrumental in helping to advance Ghana’s agenda including structuring its long term debt in the bond market globally as well as mobilizing the Diaspora to assist the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in solving key financing challenges post COVID.
Peter is a member of Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and Board member of Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS), a charity organization with the sole mission to provide comprehensive, affordable orthopaedic care to those who would not otherwise have access to such treatment. He is also a keen sportsman having represented Great Britain in Track and Field on a number of occasions.
